Hey, I’ve got some good news. Longshot Island has published my flash memoir “A Worm Tale” in their latest issue.
Apparently, I need to write more of these things because they seem to do very well in terms of blog stats. And I get that. I enjoy reading personal stories by fellow bloggers. I feel like I know them better as people when I’m done.
It’s just…I was taught to be modest, so it’s difficult to talk about myself. I’m trying to get over that, but it’s very much a work in progress. Still, I have another flash memoir coming up about catamaran racing, so that’s a step in the right direction.

Oh my goodness, that is so funny and totally precious, Cathleen.
My daughter used to play with the worm-families while I gardened. They were completely limp by the time she was done, but she grew up into a good person anyway. Ha ha.

What a delightful story!
I’m like you, with the over abundance of empathy. It made being a nurse quite a challenge, at times.
When I was a little girl, I often saw my dad step on pests, like spiders and other creepy crawlies. One day I was playing in the back yard, when a little brown mouse came running toward me. My dad had taught me that mice were pests and carried dangerous diseases. So, without thinking, I stepped on it with my little Buster Brown shoe.
That was more than sixty years ago. I am still not over it.
