Being different can be dangerous.
Falada is a kelpie, hated and feared because she can change shape.
Only Jentelle has looked past Falada’s outward appearance to see the person within. And now Jentelle must marry the prince of the neighboring kingdom to forge an alliance against invasion from the south.
But no one in their new home can find out that Jentelle is part siren. In horse shape, Falada accompanies her friend because if anyone discovers the truth about either of them, they could lose more than an alliance.
Many humans kill what they don’t understand.

Praise for Stolen Legacy:
“I enjoyed the relationship between Jentelle and Falada, as well as the realistic feel of the magical world Cathleen Townsend creates in this short and enchanting tale.” M.C. Tuggle, author of The Genie Hunt.
“A story of two friends: one a young princess betrothed to marry, and the other a mythical creature feared and loathed by mankind. Together, they are caught up in a swift torrent that will decide the future. Townsend has penned a thundering ride from the folklore of Scotland.” Taylor Harbin, author of The Nimrod Lexicon, After Their Kind, and The Curse of Horace Jonah.
“Stolen Legacy is the magical story of a kelpie named Falada and her human friend, a princess named Jentelle. She accompanies her to her pending royal marriage but they are attacked and her identity stolen. What happens next is not at all what you’d expect. This is a delightful story from the viewpoint of the kelpie.” Jacqui Murray, author of Building a Midshipman, To Hunt a Sub, and Twenty-Four Days.
“I crowed in triumph at least twice, and my eyes grew wide with indignation at Adith’s selfish treachery.” Aaron Perry, author of Cold Purgatory.

Cathleen, this is such an imaginative idea. I like that it’s based on Scot mythology but expands into something contemporary. The best to you on your newest endeavor.

Just sent it today manually–and I updated my newsletter welcome. For some reason, MailChimp won’t send out the welcome email right away. They make people wait a day to get it. I tried changing it, but that’s the earliest timing they have. 😦

It’s a striking cover! Smart to keep the creature the focus, and not clutter the frame with needless details that might distract from it…
