Vampyrie contains all the classic vampire lore–the fangs, silent movement, brutal attacks, and human senses that are outmatched by their unearthly antagonists. In addition to this, it also holds some unique world-building, everything from the biochemical roots of vampires to their origins. As someone who’s written seven novels retelling fairy tales, I can appreciate this. A fresh blend of old and new can be an absorbing approach.
The book opens with Phoebe, the novel’s protagonist, being abducted, and unwittingly involved in the ongoing fight between the two branches of vampires. Fortunately for her, a league exists to fight the evil, degraded vampires, although she certainly wasn’t expecting her new knowledge to involve her own family history. Nor was she prepared to find her friends were also at risk.

Thanks, Robbie. I try to give people some set up, some reason to read the work. I also try to help weed out the readers who won’t like the work and might leave negative reviews. I hope it working. 🙂

What a delightful surprise, Cathleen. I just spent the last month editing and formatting my first novel for republication, and I fell behind in everything else in my life. Your lovely review has helped re-energize me. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my book ❤

That’s a very good review! As someone who faints at the sight of blood, I admit I don’t really read stories about vampires. But who knows? I may get brave and give this one a try!

There’s not too much blood. For a vampire story, it’s quite restrained. 🙂

Sounds like my kind of story!

Thank you, Ann. Vampyrie isn’t your typical vampire story. It’s told from a medical and metaphysical perspective ❤

Reblogged this on TINA FRISCO and commented:
I was pleasantly surprised to read Cathleen Townsend’s lovely review of my latest novel, Vampyrie. I very much enjoyed my interview with her in May. Cathleen is the author of five novels and gives generously of her time to fellow authors.
