Okay, so this review is not entirely disinterested–please note that I’m one of the authors. This collection includes my flash sci-fi story, “Picture Perfect”, about a girl who loved her cellphone into sentience, a la The Velveteen Rabbit. There really is nothing quite like the validation of an occasional trade publication.
But still. I went to Amazon and bought my own copy, so I think I’m entitled to an opinion on the work as a whole. It would be disingenuous of me to review my own story, but setting that tale aside, it’s still a worthy read. My favorites were “Day Worker” by Andrew Lucas and “A Sadness Runs Through Him” by Louise Sorensen.
All the tales were well-written, with solid pacing, world building, and story structure, and it’s a volume I’m proud to be a part of.
If sci-fi is your cup of tea (with a little fantasy crossover), check out the “Look Inside” here: https://www.amazon.com/Just-Minor-Malfunction-issue-June-ebook/dp/B072N1RMFL/.

Thanks so much, Sharon. My fragile writer’s ego can take all the boosting it can get. 🙂

Oooooo, I love some sci-fi, fantasy shorts! Even if I am older than 18 🙂 A well-written review of how you say “a volume I’m proud to be a part of!” Downloaded one 🙂

I just picked up your book last week, too, and it’s in my TBR pile. 🙂 I finally broke down and bought a Kindle today to get through it. I’m very thrifty (it’s been a survival skill in my life), but I need to get away from my computer. The Kindle I can take to my garden where I’ve put in so much work lately (and, y’know, I’d like to enjoy it). Anyway, Better Bogging with Photography is #3 out of five in the queue. Looking forward to reading all my new books with a new toy.
And thanks for the read. Hope you like the tale. 🙂

Oh, thanks, Cathleen! Congrats on your new kindle. I love my paperwhite, and my new tablet has a nice colorful display. If you have any questions once you get into the book, please feel free to message me!

So, I read your story, and remembered you posted it on your blog! Fun to read again. I need a phone like that! I’ve read three stories in the anthology now, some great stuff. How did I not know you live in the Sierra foothills? I’m your neighbor in Sacramento 😎

Awesome, Terri. We should totally meet for Starbucks or something. I was in Sacramento only yesterday. Now that it’s cooling, we could even take a walk. 🙂
